Buyers can choose between dry substance containers, mixed at home with sterile water, or pre-filled injectors typically sold at 160 pounds for 20mg. When asked how long a pen should last, sellers give conflicting answers varying between a few weeks to “depends on your body”.

A spokesperson for the messaging service said it regularly moderated harmful content on its platform including material that promoted the “misuse of controlled medications”. The company noted that it removed “millions of pieces of harmful content each day”.

“People are administering materials they cannot confirm. Although the research behind this drug is sound, these online versions may not include what they advertise,” stated a pharmacy expert, the director of pharmacy at Chemist4U.
